Abstract:Stochastic differential equations (SDEs) have come to play an importantrole in many branches of science and industry. An area of
particularinterest has been the automatic control of SDEs, with consequent emphasis beingplaced on the analysis of stability. This talk will demonstrate themanifestations of the method of Lyapunov functions in the study of stochasticstability. The course will not only address the classical stability inprobability and the modern exponential stability and stochastic stabilizationbut also discuss the new developments on stochastic stability of neuralnetworks with time delays.
Rakkiyappan Rajan was an undergraduate studentin the field of Mathematics during 1999–2002 from Sri Ramakrishna Mission VidyalayaCollege of Arts and Science and a post graduate in Mathematics from PSG Collegeof Arts and Science affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, TamilNadu, India from 2002–2004. He was awarded his Doctor of Philosophy in the year2011 from the Department of Mathematics, Gandhigram Rural University,Gandhigram, Tamil Nadu, India. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor atBharathiar University. He has visited as a Research Professor the ResearchCenter for Wind Energy Systems, Kunsan National University, 558 Daehak-ro,Gunsansi 54150, Republic. of Korea from June-2017 to May-2018. His researchinterests include stochastic and impulsive systems, neural networks, complexsystems, and fractional order systems. To his credit, he has published more than100 papers in international journals.

Abstract:Steady statetwo-dimensional mixed convection in a lid-driven square cavity filled with Cu–water nanofluid isinvestigated numerically in the presence of internal heat generation. In thepresent investigation, bottom wall is uniformly and non-uniformly heated whiletwo vertical walls are fixed and they are thermally insulated. The top wall ismoving from left to right at a constant speed. The governing equations arenormalized and solved numerically with boundary conditions by finite volumeapproach using third order accurate upwinding scheme (deferred QUICK). Effectsof the pertinent physical parameters are investigated in terms of the flow andtemperature fields, as well as Nusselt number distributions. The presentedresults show that the solid volume fraction plays a significant role on theflow and thermal fields and the Nusselt number distributions for different flowconfigurations. It is found that Richardson number strongly affect the fluidflow and heat transfer in the cavity. For Ri < 1, the forced convectionbecomes dominant in the entire cavity, the natural convection relatively weak.
M.Muthtamilselvan received his Ph.D. in 2008 from theDepartment of Mathematics, Bharathiar University, India. He is currentlyprofessor at the Department of Mathematics, Bharathiar University. His researchinterests are Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), convection in nanofluids, boundary layer flow and heat transfer analysis. He has published more than 45articles in International journals. He guided 4 Ph.D and 27 M.Phil. students inthe Applied Mathematics area.
